Describe the shipping unit, not the retail box
Record every item going into the carton. Individual gift boxes, separators, protective layers and printed extras all occupy space and affect the loading sequence. Show their arrangement before asking for an internal carton size. A retail box’s external dimensions are one input, rather than the final shipping dimensions.
The top and bottom flap arrangement introduces a sealing task. Ask for the proposed body joint, flap layout and closing method. Identify which actions happen before loading and how the packing team checks that the base is ready. The shipping label needs a defined outside surface after the pack is sealed.
State the route and handling context to be reviewed. A parcel containing one gift and a master carton carrying several retail units are different packed systems. A construction name helps identify the proposed carton, while material selection and transport review still depend on the complete configuration.
Compare outer-carton and mailer tasks
A front-tuck mailer gives a different flap and opening sequence. A regular slotted carton commonly brings separate top and bottom sealing into the packing work. Compare the loaded arrangement, supplies and customer or receiving-team opening process rather than choosing solely by the appearance of the empty shell.
For an illustrative group of candle gift boxes, the retail boxes might already include fitted holders. That does not decide the outer-carton arrangement. Show the number and orientation of retail units, the proposed separation between them and the materials used around the group. The review should refer to that complete pack.
Prepare a shipping-carton specification
| Field | Describe the actual shipping unit |
|---|---|
| Contents | Retail units, accessories, counts, dimensions and complete weight. |
| Layout | Loading orientation, dividers, surrounding materials and stacking within the carton. |
| Construction | Proposed body joint, flap arrangement, material and closing method. |
| Operations | Base preparation, loading, sealing, labeling and receiving opening. |
| Route | Pickup and destination, parcel or grouped shipment and review requirements. |
| Records | Carton version, artwork, design quantities and sample scope. |
Keep net contents, packing materials and complete carton weight distinct in the record. Use the carton and freight data worksheet once the proposed shipping unit is clear. Identify estimates so a freight inquiry does not treat an early layout as measured shipment data.
Review forming, sealing and the packed system
- Form the carton and close the base using the intended method.
- Load the complete inner arrangement in its specified order.
- Inspect clearances, dividers, contact and remaining space.
- Close and seal the top, then place the planned shipping information.
- Agree the appropriate transport review with the relevant responsible party.
- Record the configuration and evidence used for the acceptance decision.
Separate fit observations from transport evidence. A pack that closes comfortably has answered an assembly question; a different review is needed for the intended shipment. If a carton size or material changes, identify which loading, sealing or transport questions must be checked again.
Agree the carton and packing scope
Packrivo’s order planning policy is 500 pieces per product / design. List the outer carton, dividers, sealing supplies and any packing work separately. Final material, pricing, production conditions, sample scope and delivery timing are reviewed for the project.
The original box-style reference explains the regular slotted container’s flap arrangement. The FEFCO construction reference supports identifying corrugated designs by drawing. These references describe construction, rather than certifying this proposed shipment.
Get a Quote with the loaded layout and closing process. Packrivo helps organize the carton questions before supplier responses and sample evidence are compared.
