This concept borrows a side-lock construction for nonfood gift planning; the offered material and actual drawing remain project-specific.
Identify the locks before naming the use
The original side-lock carton reference is marketed for cake packaging. Its construction identity is the relevant information here. A converter’s side-lock dieline description explains base side slots receiving front/back tuck flaps and lid side flaps. Its displayed material and food context do not establish this gift proposal’s specification.
Ask the converter to show which flaps form the tray and which move with the lid. If the same receiver is used at different stages, label both actions on the drawing. This prevents staff from seating a lid flap as though it were a permanent tray-wall joint.
Provide the primary gift pack and all accessories as a complete envelope. For a boxed candle, include the finished jar box, ribbon and care card rather than only jar dimensions. Mark the local height near the side receiver and the area swept by the attached lid.
Review the lid with the side walls formed
Form and seat the tray locks in the prescribed order. Record the empty setup state, then load the gift. Pause the lid during closure to locate any side flap meeting an insert, card or projecting decoration. Close fully and reopen through the intended customer grip.
A lid that appears to close after moving the card is a changed packing arrangement. Record the new card position and ask whether it is the agreed proposal. The converter should respond with a located drawing change or a confirmed loading sequence, while the buyer reviews the complete revised sample.
Compare the existing folding gift-box option if a separate lid and base is preferable. An attached lid keeps its movement connected to the tray; a detached lid creates different handling and storage actions.
Keep a side-lock and lid-travel record
The hypothetical gift record below is an original planning aid, not a factory instruction.
| Stage | Feature to name | Next evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Tray setup | Base slot S1 and wall flap W1 | Offered drawing and seated lock view |
| Loading | Boxed candle and card position | Complete open pack |
| Lid travel | Lid side flap L1 and its receiver | Partly closed contact view |
| Customer access | Opening grip and product lift route | Loaded reopened sample |
| Delivery | Prepared joints versus local folding actions | Confirmed supplied-state description |
Agree the setup responsibility
The converter owns the proposed tab/slot and hinge geometry. The packing owner owns the observed order used at the bench. The buyer owns the decision to retain a card position or request another sample. Keep the drawing, instructions and observations together so that a later lid change does not silently alter the packout.
Record those roles with the flat and assembled scope guide. Send the complete gift envelope and named lock/lid question through Get a Quote. MOQ is 500 pieces per design; material, sample and commercial terms are confirmed against the project.
