This option concerns an outer carton with an interlocking base and slotted top flaps. Supplier terminology can vary. Request a drawing and photographed bottom-closing sequence that identify the carton as delivered, the tab order and the final engagement. Keep the supplied state explicit when a supplier uses the term ‘1-2-3’.

Identify the base tabs on the proposed carton

The 1-2-3 slotted container reference establishes the named outer-carton format. Packhelp’s snap-lock reference identifies four interlocking closure tabs. These are structure references, not evidence that a particular stock item or load capacity is available through Packrivo.

Ask the supplier to name the base tabs and show their folding order. Identify the final engagement feature and the inspection view staff should use before loading.

Mark the top flaps separately. The base sequence should not be treated as an instruction for the top, which has its own closing and sealing operation.

Describe the complete outer-pack contents

Provide the count, dimensions and weight of packed retail units, including dividers and padding. Show their arrangement from above. State whether the carton is filled at your site or elsewhere.

A hypothetical shipment of small gift boxes could use rows separated by a divider. The base should be formed and inspected before those rows are placed inside. A worker should not have to find an incomplete base tab beneath the loaded contents.

Use other outer-pack options to compare closure and packing requirements. The manual base operation is the distinctive task here; selection still depends on the complete proposed system.

Keep operations and owners visible

Attach a photograph or diagram to each stage. The record should describe work that the actual packing location can perform.

If a label or tape hides a base issue, remove that distraction from the fit review. Ask whether extra sealing is part of the proposed configuration and record it explicitly.

Agree supplied state and evaluation

Confirm the side-seam preparation, delivered form and material specification. Include corrugated board construction where proposed. Avoid choosing it by an unverified promotional strength description.

Perform the manual base sequence on a sample before loading. Then load the complete configuration and finish the top as proposed. Inspect visible base and seam changes after the agreed handling actions, without inventing a pass threshold.

For distribution use, ask the responsible party to propose an evaluation suited to the contents, handling route and destination. A local setup check is a work-instruction review, not a transport certification.

Write the before-load base inspection as a visible condition from the confirmed drawing. Staff need to know where to look, not only that they should ‘check the bottom’. Keep the inspection view available while the carton is empty. If the supplier changes a tab, revise the instruction photo and the observation field before using that new carton at the bench.

Submit the base sequence and loaded plan

Send the carton drawing, manual tab instruction, packed arrangement and weight, quantity and destination through Get a Quote. The minimum is 500 pieces per design. Final construction, samples and commercial terms require project confirmation.
