Custom Molded Pulp Insert Sourcing
MOQ: 500 pieces per product / design. Plan the quantity for each design in your brief.
A molded-pulp insert uses formed fiber to create product-shaped cavities. Define product outlines, layout, visible surface and the task the insert must perform.
Packaging option · Supplier confirmation required

The minimum is Packrivo’s project threshold. Availability for the chosen structure, material and finish is checked for your project.
What affects the price
Size
The finished dimensions and usable interior determine material use and product fit.
Structure
Closures, folds and assembly steps change the work needed to make the pack.
Materials
Board, wrap and insert choices affect both construction and material cost.
Printing & finishes
Artwork coverage, colors and decoration steps change setup and finishing costs.
Quantity
The quantity per design changes how setup and production costs are distributed.
When it may fit
It may suit a shaped support concept or a natural-fiber look. Feasibility, tooling and quantity requirements need supplier review before it becomes a public offer.
Details to define
- Product dimensions, weight, count and orientation.
- Cavity shape, support points and edge access.
- Insert dimensions, surface expectation and box fit.
- Destination market and evidence needed for any fiber or sustainability statement.
Artwork and presentation choices
Review the proposed formed surface and the surfaces that contact the product. Keep any color or printed-mark proposal tied to a material and process response rather than drawing conclusions from the concept image.
Options to compare
- Compare natural molded texture with a smoother pulp surface as a sample question.
- Consider colored pulp only if supplier confirms the material and color route.
- Do not infer compostability or recycled content from appearance.
Choose a full cavity, corner cradle or end-support pair
Specify where formed-fiber support is needed before selecting the overall insert outline. A full cavity and local supports meet different regions of the same product or primary pack; they should not share an unexamined contact drawing.
| Support layout | Identify in the proposal | Review with the complete outer pack |
|---|---|---|
| Full cavity | Product envelope, cavity contour, contact regions, insert seating and removal grip. | Loading, installed position and the customer’s exit route. |
| Corner cradles | Each corner position, part orientation, permitted contact and projections or wrap seams to keep clear. | Contact at the product or retail-box corner, the outer-box corner and the starting release grip. |
| End-support pair | End A and end B, their contoured parts, surface identities and linked tooling revision. | Both product ends installed in the outer box; keep differently shaped ends individually identified. |
Ask for the actual formed-part and material proposal, supplied state and any tooling scope. For a nested delivery, record the empty nesting arrangement and how parts are separated before loading. Empty nesting does not establish the loaded pack’s performance.
Folded corrugated end caps remain a different proposal: their local folds and assembly are not the same as receiving molded-fiber parts. Compare both against the same allowed contact regions without assuming identical manufacturing or support behavior.
Supplier confirmation needed
Confirm composition, forming process, tooling, sample and commercial conditions with the supplier. Any recycled, recyclable, compostable or protection claim needs product-specific evidence.
Project details to agree
Final materials, construction, price, sample scope and delivery timing are confirmed for the agreed project with the relevant supplier.
