This concept requires a supplier drawing for the slots, board and proposed assembly. A grid illustration is not evidence of verified protection or a confirmed stock divider.
Define the grid parts and outer cavity
The paperboard divider reference establishes the component format. Ask for the proposed intersecting parts and slots on a drawing. Label any strips that differ instead of assuming the same part can be used everywhere.
Provide the finished box interior and the complete item envelopes. Include caps, cards and wraps that extend beyond the main product. Mark the intended item orientation in each cell.
The existing corrugated divider option uses another material proposal. Compare the actual board, joint and loading requirements with the same items; no protective ranking follows from a material name.
Assign items before adjusting slots
For a hypothetical four-item gift set, map each item to a cell ID. One item may be taller and another wider. Review those differences on the actual loaded layout instead of arranging the set only for a front photograph.
Assemble the grid in the confirmed order inside or outside the box as proposed. Inspect slot engagement before loading. Ask whether staff need to distinguish handed or differently sized strips at the bench.
Load each item along its intended route, then remove it. A cell that accepts the body can still meet a projecting cap during removal. Record that contact against the cell and item IDs.
Use a cell assignment record
The record combines the part map with the actual contents. Keep blank dimensional fields as supplier questions until confirmed.
| Grid record | Input | Sample check |
|---|---|---|
| Parts | Strip IDs, slot positions and differing forms | Confirmed interlocking order |
| Cells | Cell IDs and inside envelope | Assembled grid in box |
| Contents | Named item and orientation per cell | Loading and removal |
| Perimeter | Grid edge against box cavity | Located wall contact |
| Supply | Loose or prepared parts and counts | Received state matches instruction |
Use the insert material guide when the grid’s job or component form is still undecided. This record is useful after the interlocking-grid option has been chosen.
Keep assembly and retention questions distinct
A completed grid may separate items while still leaving movement within a cell unresolved. State any locating requirement separately and ask for the proposed response. Do not call a divided layout a proven retention system.
If the outer box, strip material or product envelope changes, identify the cells and slots affected. A grid with the same cell count can have a different usable geometry. Repeat the relevant assembled checks on the new proposal.
For the hypothetical set, call the wider item’s cell C3 and its adjacent strip S2. A located question about C3/S2 gives the supplier a more useful next action than a general request for larger compartments.
Send the mapped set
Submit the part drawing, cell assignment, complete item envelopes, quantity and destination through Get a Quote. The minimum is 500 pieces per design. Final materials, construction, sample scope and commercial terms are confirmed for the project.
